Version 1.2.2 adds no new features. This version was released to improve support for Mac OS 8, and to fix a potential incompatibility with Mac OS 8.1.
Keys Off 1.2.2 provides the following changes:
• The MacOS 8 appearance manager is now fully supported.
• The code used to disable the shift key has been changed. This removes a bug that could cause the System File to become corrupted on machines running Mac OS 8.1.
All Keys Off users should upgrade to this new version.
Keys Off 1.2 Release Notes
Since the release of Keys Off 1.1 I have received many requests and suggestions from users. This version of Keys Off is an attempt to incorporate many of those suggestions.
Keys Off 1.2 adds the following new features:
• Keys Off can be activated automatically when your machine goes to sleep.
• Command-Key shortcuts can be disabled.
• The Keys Off password is now required before you can change the Keys Off settings. This prevents someone from placing a different password into Keys Off and locking you out of your own machine.
• The Keys Off preference file is now protected with a 32-bit checksum. This will prevent Keys Off from trying to use a damaged prefs file and possibly crashing your machine.
• The Keys Off Settings program is now PowerPC native and is distributed as a FAT binary.
• The startup delay before Keys Off prevents disk insertions has been increased from 45 to 90 seconds.
• The Keys Off user's guide has been completely rewritten. This new manual is a great improvement over previous versions.
• The Keys Off deactivation password is now encrypted.

Other Important Notes
• Mounting Disks At Startup
If you have set Keys off to activate at startup, and you have selected "disable disk insertions", Keys Off will still allow anything to mount on the desktop for the first 90 seconds after startup. After the 90 seconds has expired, the "disable disk insertions" function kicks into full-gear and will prevent any further items from mounting. This delay was added so that users with multiple hard drives could be ensured that everything would mount at startup. Without this delay, all drives except for the startup device would be ejected by Keys Off as soon as the Finder tried to display them on the desktop.
